12/15/2023 0 Comments Red brand barbed wire![]() ![]() Lot of fence here with no wood posts, just t posts and rock jacks. Most the rock free ground here is farmed so we get to do all our fencing in the rocks. Ya, we still burn a lot of ditch banks and stubble fields, so Im well aware how fun that burned rusty wire is to work with. Not much fun to roll up when you tear your old fence out but from what I hear it's worse to unroll it when you reuse it to build your new fence. It's almost half the price as normal barb wire, the barbs are much sharper, and will out last you. Popular name for it is Gaucho but Red Brand makes it too. I think I am convinced on the high tensile barb wire. If that wire ain't the plain pits to try and splice each spring at a break. Old timers used to burn the fencerows back in the day around here. Only reason we even put a t-post in is for a ground if the fence gets struck by lightning so it don't fry up a long distance of wire. Now of course, we use 7 wood then 1 steel. IIRC.because it's been awhile since we built fence. Rule of thumb for post spacing is 1 rod apart. How far do you all space t posts with 5 strand fence? Building a good fence is a spendy idea anymore. I'm guessing it's not as good? Anyone use it? Actually t posts and wire have gone up a bunch since I built much fence. Going to be building some new fence and was pricing around, OK brand is a lot cheaper.
